Meissen Porcelain Salutes the Steuben Parade during Meissen's 300th Anniversary Celebration
The upcoming German-American Steuben Parade is proud to celebrate one of Germany´s greatest and most historic brands with a special one-night-only exhibition during a Gala Banquet in benefit of the Parade at the New York Hilton & Towers on Friday, September 24: The exhibition honors the "Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen" celebrating their 300th Anniversary.
With great pride the Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen recognizes the contributions of German-Americans on the occasion of the 53rd German-American Steuben Parade of New York and congratulates the Grand Marshals Dr. Ruth Westheimer and Dr. Michael Möller.
Sixty-six years before the founding of the United States of America with the help of Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben, Meissen Porcelain became the first European manufacturer of porcelain and has continued to hand produce and hand paint in the same manner for 300 years. Naturally the American market has been particular strong since the fall of the Berlin Wall and German reunification when all Americans have had the chance to experience the joy and beauty of Meissen either as collectibles or dinnerware services.
During this 300th Anniversary Celebration, Meissen has been featuring special exhibitions in the famous Meissen Porcelain Museum and all over the world. Meissen is honored to present several marvelous limited edition pieces, which are replicas of items in the Zwinger Museum in Dresden, however made exactly as they were in the early 18th century. Among these magnificent works are a Rhinoceros (Meissen suggested retail price: $20,420) that was created for Saxonian King August the Strong's porcelain zoo, a wonderful Goldfish Teapot ($4,024), and an Elephant as imagined by a sculptor who had never seen a live Elephant - here, notice the extended trunk, canine feet, human teeth & ears, and the donkey's body ($2,393).
Also of particular interest is the large Swan Platter with the family crest of the von Brühls; Graf von Brühl had been not only August the Strong's prime minister, but also Meissen's first director and, other than August, customer ($6,807).
 As solid as Meissen's past, the porcelain manufacturer also looks boldly to the next 300 years and remains relevant to today's customer. Their presentation at the New York Hilton & Towers will also feature a full service of the Waves Pattern, which at $200.00 for a 5 piece place setting is garnering new customers through wedding registries and everyday use. Meissen is happiest when its products can be used for daily life and the classic production methods enables the legendary and state owned company to offer this set, and many others, at a value price. It is also microwave and dishwasher safe. This way one can enjoy a bit of fine German culture, history, technology, and quality every day.
To celebrate both, the German-American  Steuben Parade and the 300th Anniversary of the legendary brand, Meissen likes to thank every attendee of the Gala Benefit Banquet for their support by offering a special 300th Anniversary Meissen medallion, struck by hand in real Meissen porcelain. It will be given out to all attendees in their gift bag. During the time of August the Strong, Meissen porcelain was called "Weißes Gold" (white gold), and Meissen porcelain was used as both military medals and coinage. The company still thinks of its products as timeless treasures that bring joy to generations and hope that everybody will enjoy this valuable keepsake.

The Steuben Parade Banquet will introduce both Grand Marshals, the legendary Dr. Ruth Westheimer and Dr. Michael Möller, CEO of the world famous Hofbräuhaus in München/Germany. The Banquet will feature the music of 18 time Grammy winner "The Jimmy Sturr Orchestra" and an appearance by famous Austrian soprano, Eva Lind.
