German-American Steuben Parade Committee Selects Its Queen and her Court
Miss German-America Selected During "Maifest On The Pier and Crowning Celebration
The German-American Committee of Greater New York is proud to announce that Miss Denise Manukian has been crowned Miss German-America 2011! The crowning took place Saturday, May 21st during the "Maifest on the Hudson" co-sponsored by World Yacht Cruises on Pier 81, and the German-American Steuben Parade Committee, which celebrates its 54th Annual Parade on September 17, 2011.
Also selected were two princesses: Miss Christina Kraker and Miss Susanne Stuppert. Juliana Mense, Kristen Szoldatits, Katharina Hofmann, and Sophia Guarnaschelli were selected as the four Junior Princesses, and Alex Carrazone will serve as Junior General to round off this year's "Court". Nearly 2,000 people were in attendance at this year's crowning, which featured live music by "The Alpine Squeeze" band, and dancing by the "Schlierachtaler Stamm" Bavarian dancers.
 Queen Denise Manukian is a 23 year old resident of Rego Park, NY, and a recent graduate of the School of Management at Binghampton University. She is fluent in the German language, and thoroughly enjoys her German roots.
"From what I could see, and from the initial feedback from both the judges and the public, Denise is going to make a terrific spokesperson for the German-American Steuben Parade, through her grace, poise and intelligence," said Lars Halter, the Parade's General Chairman, of the newly crowned Queen. Twenty year old Princess Christina Kraker is a resident of Mahopac, NY and a student at the University of Scranton, PA, where she studies International Business. Princess Susanne Stuppert is 25 years old, resides in Massapequa, NY, and recently completed her Master's degree in Childhood Multicultural Education in the State University of NY.
Parade Chairman Halter is very excited to point out that each of the young ladies selected will receive a scholarship courtesy of the Parade Committee. The Queen will receive a $3,000 scholarship, while each princess will receive $1,000 towards paying for their own education. During the Parade on September 17th, the Court will be riding on a float up Fifth Avenue. In addition, they will be attending numerous festivals in the tri-state area, making television and other special appearances.
 The 54th Annual German-American Steuben Parade is the greatest display of German-American heritage and culture in the United States. This year, the Parade will be held on Saturday, September 17th on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue. Hundreds of local and national groups will be marching, as well as twenty five groups that will fly in from Germany to join he festivities.
