Who will be Miss German-America 2012?

The German-American Committee is looking for "Miss German-America 2012" and we are inviting ladies between 18 and 25 years of age to submit their applications now. Applicants must have a German-American background and be ready for an exciting year wearing the tiara to many cultural events throughout the tri-state area. Of course, the highlight of the year as "Miss German-America" will be riding her float as "Queen of the 2012 Steuben Parade" joined by her entire court: two Princesses, as well as Junior Princesses and a Junior General. This year´s Steuben Parade will be held on Saturday, September 15, at 12 Noon on Fifth Avenue.

Other highlights include a reception with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and other official and cultural events with high-ranking German and American dignitaries and celebrities.

"I have had a wonderful year and made lots of friends," says Denise Manukian, whose reign as Miss German-America will come to an end in May when she passes on the crown to her successor. Denise, who is fluent in both English and German, was a VIP guest at countless events during her year as Queen, she enjoyed her role in the Steuben Parade and made a wonderful presence on national TV. She just returned from a goodwill trip to Cologne, where she was a VIP guest at the world famous Rosenmontag carnival parade.

Applicants can download their sign-up sheets here and fill out as instructed. There is one application form for "Miss German-America" and the two princesses (18-25 years) and a separate sheet for applicants interested in being a Junior Princess or the Junior General (8-12 years). The entire court will be present at most events and share in all the highlights of the 2012 program for "Miss German-America".
